‘Origin’, the memoirs of Lily Gracia and the Japanese Knotweed

The park bench where Lily Gracia and the Japanese Knotweed met

‘Origin’ is one of the four audio plays that form the sound work Floriade Whisperings.

In 1972, Grace Kelly baptised a lily named after her in a small but uniquely designed pavilion. This pavilion has recently been demolished. In this audio play, Lily Gracia and the Japanese Knotweed talk about their origin, life and glory years. The memoirs take the listener along through the history of the park from the perspective of the two plants and address current issues such as the changing attitude towards exotics.
