With its impressive height of nearly two metres, the wisent performs a key role as one of the big grazers shaping the landscape.

Over centuries, sheep helped create and maintain the Arcadian heaths. Once a year, the public can watch them being shorn at a sheep shearing pen.

Throughout the rest of the year, the pen is a playground where children can freely play and clamber about.
